Aurora Chaser Stories📸

Real stories from people who traveled north to witness the magic
of the Northern Lights.

What Is the KP Index?

The KP index is a global scale that measures the strength of geomagnetic activity. It ranges from 0 to 9:

0–2: Very low aurora activity, only visible near the poles
3–4: Moderate activity, visible in high-latitude regions
5+: Strong geomagnetic storm — aurora visible further south

The higher the number, the greater the chance of seeing the aurora.

At PolarForecast, we track the real-time KP index, updated every few minutes, so you always know when to head outside and look up.
